The first week tells a new employee everything about how you run your business. A chaotic onboarding creates doubt that takes months to undo. A structured one creates confidence on both sides.
Before day one: the paperwork
Collect the national ID, KRA PIN, NSSF number, and NHIF number. Prepare and sign the employment contract. Register the employee with NSSF and NHIF if they are not already registered.
Day one: the experience
Have a desk, a working computer, and access credentials ready before they arrive. A tour of the office, introductions to the team, and a clear agenda for the first week remove anxiety and signal professionalism.
